US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT – AUGUST 17, 2026

AFTER A STRONG PERFORMANCE IN THE PRIOR WEEK, SERVICE SETTLES BACK TO NORMAL SUMMER PACE

The Postal Service turned in a solid, if not spectacular, performance last week. All First-Class letters, and Marketing Mail letters and flats beat their YTD averages, with only First-Class flats lagging, as is their wont.

Delivery performance through this point of 2026 is better than at the same point in 2025, so there is a very mild improvement trend. Except, of course, for First-Class flats, who march to their own drummer who doesn’t seem to keep the beat very well.
