US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT – JULY 27, 2026

ON-TIME PERCENTAGES CREEPING DOWN EARLIER THAN EXPECTED

Service performance is generally stable in the summer, but we have seen a couple of trends that may be troubling. Both First-Class and Marketing Mail letters are trending slower over the last few weeks. It is the direction, not the size of the drops that concern us. First-Class letters have stayed under 80% on time for the last three weeks. Similarly, Marketing Mail letters, usually our most dependable on-time performers, were on time 94.4% of the time, well below their YTD average. Nothing to be alarmed about — yet — but we don't like the trend. There are a slew of primaries scheduled for August, so we expect high volume, and increased activity for the general election ramps up in September.

Among Marketing Mail letters, the slowest states were New Jersey, Indiana, Maine, and Texas. If you are in those states, it bears watching local facility performance.

Again, the numbers are not too far off their norm, but let's keep an eye on these trends.
