AVERAGE USPS PERFORMANCE FOR ANOTHER SUMMER WEEK
Service performance for USPS letters and flats was neither exciting nor terrifying. (If poor service performance terrifies you, you should take a week off. Maybe the beach.) FC averages were a bit worse than YTD; Marketing Mail, a touch better. There's really nothing to see here.
Summer is a low-volume period for the Postal Service.
The states with the lowest on-time percentages for flats were:
- Maine: 37.5% on time (8.52 days)
- Wyoming: 41.5% on time (7.87 days)
- Washington, DC: 66.5% on time (5.65 days)
- Arkansas: 78.9% on time (4.79 days)
Most of the rest hover in the 80–95% range.
The best?
- Colorado: 97.7% on time (1.96 days)
- Kansas: 94.6% on time (2.21 days)
- New Mexico: 95.4% on time (2.25 days)
- Montana: 94.8% on time (2.28 days)
- Pennsylvania: 94.3% on time (2.34 days)
These rankings are for all flats — Marketing Mail and First-Class mixed together, with a much larger number of Marketing Mail pieces.
