YET ANOTHER SUMMER WEEK – LET’S HAVE SOME FUN
Ok, the numbers are about the same as last week – better than YTD, but not by enough to be interesting. We are in a classic summer doldrums: consistently mediocre.
So, let's dig just a tiny bit deeper. Let's separate out the mail delivering within the same SCF in which it is entered from mail going to the rest of the country. The most dramatic difference is in First-Class Letters:
· Local (IntraSCF) are on time 93.2% of the time. Average transit time: 2.05 days.
· Non-IntraSCF is on time 82.5% of the time. Average transit time: 3.25 days.
Because of the nature of our customers, we are mostly tracking nationwide mail. Only about 10% of the First-Class Mail we track is local mail. So, when USPS says they are delivering more than 90% of First-Class Mail on time, it may be correct – they may just have a greater concentration of local mail.
