ANOTHER SPRING WEEK AT THE POSTAL SERVICE
Service performance at the Postal Service was about as average as you can get last week – just a touch better than the YTD numbers, which were just a touch better than last year's YTD numbers at the same time. So, they are improving…oh so slowly. If history is any indicator (and it seems to be a pretty good one in this case), what you see today is pretty much what you’re going to see through the rest of spring and summer. With the occasional variation, just so I can make snarky remarks.
Still, it is hard to be enthusiastic when 82% of First-Class letters are delivered on time. I hopped into the Way-Back Machine and looked at the results for April 25, 2022. Here’s a quote from that long-forgotten time.”
“All that said, for the week beginning April 18, 2022:
First-Class letters were delivered on time 95.19% of the time. First-Class flats were delivered on time 94.04% of the time. These are within expected parameters.
Marketing Mail Letters stayed strong with 97.64% of letters delivered on time. Marketing Mail Flats were delivered on time 96.19% of the time.”
(The Way-Back Machine is available for your use, too. Just go to our blog.)
So, we’re getting a little better. Were they drinking different water in 2022? Different Kool-Aid?
