NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT… BUT SERVICE IS IMPROVING
If you are going to write home about it, maybe skip the 9x12 envelope—they may never get it.
I was mildly horrified when my CPA sent my tax package via U.S. Mail.
“Don’t you read the stuff I write?” I asked.
“Don’t worry,” he said, “I sent it Ground Advantage.”
And just like that, all was forgiven.
Had he sent it as a First-Class flat, there was a 23.5% chance it would’ve taken more than five days. Priority Mail? (Heaven forfend.) We could be talking weeks. USPS seems pretty fond of Ground Advantage these days—and to their credit, they’re giving it solid service.
Back here in mail land, things are moving at that familiar spring pace. Performance is… fine. Not great, not terrible. But we are seeing improvement—better than last week, better year-to-date, and better than the same week last year.
The one consistent problem child remains flats—especially First-Class. USPS still doesn’t seem entirely sure what to do with them.
That said, even flats are inching in the right direction. Overall performance continues to improve gradually. We’re still well short of 2022–2023 levels, but at least the trend line is pointing the right way.
