US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT MARCH 23, 2026

STILL IN THE SPRING SLOWDOWN

I cannot conjure up any weather excuses this week.  While better than last week in some categories, overall performance continues to lag – worse than YTD average in almost every category.  This indicates that service is deteriorating.  First-Class Flats remain a trainwreck, particularly in the Central and Southern areas.  Oddly, Marketing Mail flats are OK.  Clearly, there are issues at the origin and in the network.  Once a flat reaches the destination facility, it gets delivered quickly.  Must be the “Last Mile” we hear so much about.

Letters were OK, I guess, for the time of year.  78.9% is better than last week’s 72% on time, but still a high C at best.  YTD numbers are still better than this time last year.  Let’s hope that holds.
